An Introduction

IMG_0856Hello!  I am Kathy Rebh, therapist at Thrive Counseling.  Welcome to my Blog. Because I am new to the Rockford Community and on the Web,  I thought that I would share a little about myself.   I recently retired from the Sparta School System where I worked at the Alternative High School as an Educator and School Counselor.  The closing of Englishville High School  in 2014 created a void in my life.  I missed the  relationships that I had developed with my students.  During this transition,  I began to consider the possibility of opening a private practice and began to take the necessary steps to do so.  In July, I met Jordan Bont and decided to open a counseling center.  Thrive Counseling is the result of our efforts.

On a personal level, I am the mother of two sons, Caleb and Jacob. I am also the oldest child (grandchild, niece and cousin) in a very close knit family that prides itself in having  a strong work ethic.  Four years ago, I purchased a remodeled Farm House that was built in 1900  and established a country hobby farm here in Rockford. I enjoy spending time in my yard, barn and pastures. My two quarter horse geldings–Hero and Keeper are here with me.  They are trained for barrel racing and are my therapy horses.   Most summer week-ends are spent at horse events.  I also enjoy kayaking and hiking, attending estate sales, baking  and spending time with friends and family.

Thank you for allowing this brief introduction.  This is probably the most I will be talking about myself.  I believe that the counseling relationship is about my client, I am  here to help navigate through the therapy process so the focus is not on me.   Developing relationships and supporting others through the counseling process is my passion.
